It is with the deepest sorrow that we announce the passing of our husband, grandfather and great-grandfather, Travis Boyd Stephenson, on Tuesday, Feb. 7, 2012.
Travis was born on May 28, 1936, in Broken Bow, Okla., to his parents, Harvey Boyd and Velma Stephenson. In 1956, while on leave from the United States Air Force, he met and married the love of his life, Nadine. They spent the next 55 years together.
After moving to Ventura County they started a family, which blessed them with six wonderful daughters (and lots of gray hair): Beverley Zimdars (husband Harry), Aileen Morrison (husband Mike), Cindy Barajas (husband Jacinto), Julie Butler, Karen Galvan (husband Robert) and Lisa Stephenson. Dad especially loved spending time with all of his 10 grandchildren that he loved so very much: Megan, Jarrod, Ashley, Adam, Travis, Amanda, Kali, Cassandra, Cheyanne and Trevor. He also enjoyed his great-grandchildren: Daniel, Lea, Sean, Angelina and Melanie. Dad will be forever in our hearts.
Do not let your hearts be troubled. Trust in God; trust also in me. In my Fathers house there are many rooms; If it were not so, I would have told you. I am going there to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am. You know the way to the place where I am going. John 14:1-4
Visitation will take place 12 until 5 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 12, at the Ted Mayr Funeral Home, 3150 Loma Vista Road, Ventura. Services will be held 10 a.m. Monday, Feb. 13, also at Ted Mayr Funeral Home, with the Reverend Dan Hull officiating. Burial will follow at Ivy Lawn Memorial Park with Military Honors.
