Died at 14 months. John was the infant son of Dr. Giles Bedford and Sarah Ann (Reagan) Mitchell. Dr. Mitchell was a native of Indiana who's parents emigrated from Kentucky in 1810. He obtained his medical degree from Ohio Medical College in Cincinnati. He practiced medicine in both Martinsville and Mooresville during his lifetime. Dr. Mitchell took a brief hiatus from his medical practice to open a mercantile business in Martinsville. He also ran on the democratic ticket for representative in the state legislature. He married Sarah Reagan on November 30, 1847. John Reagan was one of six children born to the couple. Only two daughters survived beyond the life of their parents. In a 1913 newspaper article on this cemetery, John's sister Sarah was reported as being interred here, but no gravestone was found for her.
