Bernadette A. Leland Smith, 93, of Twin Falls, passed away Monday afternoon, Aug. 15, 2011, at River Ridge Care and Rehabilitation Center in Twin Falls.
Bernadette was born Oct. 14, 1917, in Eau Claire, Wis., the daughter of Rudolph and Clarise Leland. She grew up and attended schools in Wisconsin and furthered her education by obtaining her registered nursing certificate. Bernadette married Elmer William Smith on Aug. 10, 1945. In 1981, she moved to Twin Falls, where she worked as a registered nurse as a caregiver.
Bernadette was a devote catholic woman and was an active member of St. Edward the Confessor Catholic Church in Twin Falls.
Bernadette is survived by her daughter-in-law, Marilyn V. Smith; her grandchildren, Jennifer (David) Moran and Lawrence L. Smith Jr.; her great-grandchildren, Madison, Amanda, Emily, Meadow, Dakota and Tashana; her sister, Marie Curtis; as well as her nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Elmer Smith; her sons, Donald LaTour, Michael Smith and Lawrence L. Smith; her sister, Marcella Wold; and her brother, Vernon Leland; as well as her granddaughter, Ronica Lynn LaTour LaRock; as well as several stepchildren.
A memorial Mass will be said for Bernadette at the St. Edward the Confessor Catholic Church in Twin Falls. Services and arrangements are under the direction of Reynolds Funeral Chapel in Twin Falls.
