KoreaMarvin was a talented man, born on a farm in rural King City Missouri. He was the youngest child in a large family--with many, much older, brothers and sisters. Marvin's parents died when he was still a young child. As a result, he became very self sufficient. He could build or fix anything--all without formal training. If you needed car repairs, an extra bedroom on your house, your yard landscaped, or your television set, or other electronical devices fixed, Marvin was the man for you. Marvin saw combat in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War and was honorably discharged after two enlistments. He earned the bronze star for bravery under fire. Marvin married twice and had a son with his first wife, Gloria, and a son and four daughters with his second wife, Gloria. Marvin was also a proud grandfather. After the war, he moved to Southern California where he settled first in Los Angeles County and then in the city of Orange in Orange County, CA. Marvin then relocated with his young family to Carmichael, CA in Sacramento County. He opened and operated his own successful barber business in both Orange and Rocklin, CA. Marvin had a strong work ethic--rarely closing his shop due to illness or to take a vacation. He loved boating and fishing and working in his garden. After decades with nary a cold or the flue, Marvin was diagnosed with a hereditary form of colon cancer. There is an extensive history of the illness in his family. By the time he was diagnosed, his illness was unsurvivable. Marvin died at the young age of 57, in Roseville, CA, on September 18, 1987. He has been greatly missed.
