Joseph Daniel Miller, 65, a retired farmer, died, Monday, at his home on Fair Haven church, after an illness of two years with a complication of ailments. He was born near Frankfort, Dec. 13, 1870, a son of Christian and Jane (Troxell) Miller. On Dec. 1, 1896, he married Martha Jane Moore. He had lived in Clinton county all his life. He is survived by the widow and four daughters. They are Mrs. Adeline Bell, of Sedalia; Mrs. Roberta Short, Frankfort, route 7; Mrs. Velma A. Reed, of Hillisburg, and Mrs. Edna Mae Widener, of Mulberry. He also leaves one brother, William S. Miller, Frankfort, route 1, and a sister, Mrs. Sarah Robinson, of Frankfort, route 7.

The funeral service was conducted at the house, Wednesday morning, with the Rev. A. J. Ungersma, of the Geetingsville Presbyterian church, officiating. Interment was made in the Geetingsville cemetery. Ruth Bolyard sang during the service. Pall bearers were Stanley Miller, Fred Osterday, Lee Stinespring, Harry Burkhalter, Francis Hall and Ross Rohler. Maxine Short, Waneta Short, Barbara Reed, Joan Jones, Patricia Bell, Dolores Widener, Jean Alice Snyder and Phyllis Ann Wattles were tribute bearers.

Joe Miller's father was a brother of Harry Burkhalter's mother, and his mother was a sister of the Troxell brothers - Allen and Walter, who used to live in Mulberry. Oscar Miller, an elder brother of Joe, was a school teacher for several years, but finally became a traveling salesman for a wholesale grocery concern. He passed away several years ago.

Some thirty years ago Joe Miller lived in Mulberry, in the house now the home of Mr. and Mrs. Ellis Thomas, and clerked for Dave Yundt in the store. About two years ago he bought the old Chris Rothenberger property and moved to Mulberry, but he was sick and did not get away from home enough to get acquainted. Mr. and Mrs. Frank Widener lived with him and made a home for him.
