Griess Funeral to Be Thursday Morning
Funeral services for Mrs. Frances Laura Griess, 98, who passed away Tuesday morning at Sunny Court nursing home, will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 30, in the Dorr Funeral Home chapel.
The Rev. William O. "Jack" Yates, Mound City, Mo, will officiate. Burial will be in the Sutton Cemetery, Sutton, with graveside services at 3:30 p.m. Thursday.
She was born July 22, 1877, at Geneva, the daughter of the late Henry and Frances Heiderstadt Kreig.
On March 10, 1903, she married Edward P. Griess at Geneva. They established their home at Sutton and moved to the Kearney area in 1929. Mr. Griess passed away March 27, 1954.
In 1957 Mrs. Griess moved to Mound City, Mo., to reside with her son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. William McCrory. On Oct. 16, 1967, she moved to Sunny Court and had lived there since.
Mrs. Griess is a member of the Presbyterian Church at Kearney and a former member of Chapter HP-PEO at Mound City.
She is survived by a son, Robert E. Griess, Fairbury; a daughter, Mrs. William (Florence) McCrory, Mound City; four grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
