Roger Gene Billings, 63, of Wilkesboro passed away Feb. 3, 2012.
He was born Oct. 24, 1948, in Wilkes County to the late Eudaley Jasper and Ruby Baldwin Billings. He enlisted in the US Army 82nd Airborne Rangers serving 1969 to 1971. During his Vietnam tour in 1970, he received a Purple Heart and Silver Star for his exceptional actions of bravery and courage.
Surviving are his children, Michael Gene Billings, Erin Elizabeth Billings, John Eric Billings, Leigh Ann Billings; special friend and companion, Jane Pinnix; step-daughters, Amanda Shore, Julie Valentine; grandchildren, Rhian Brooke Cox, Hannah Elizabeth Shore, Jerry Michael Valentine; sisters, Brenda Sue (Bobby) Adams, Juanita (Terry) Graham, Carol (Jerry) Walsh; several nieces, nephews, and other family members.
His funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 7, 2012, at Gentry Family Chapel in Yadkinville by the Rev. Ryan Marlow. Burial will follow at the Salisbury National Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Monday, Feb. 6, 2012, at Gentry Family Funeral Service in Yadkinville.
