On Frank's death certificate, his wife listed Frank's father as Edward Edwards, born in England.
His mother was listed as Sarah Ann ___?___.
On the 1920 census, Frank listed that both of his parents were born in England.

It's quite possible that Frank's parents were missionaries sent to Sierra Leone, Africa, as that is where Frank was born in 1881.
Ellen Groenendyke was a missionary from the U.S. that was assigned to Sierra Leone, and who brought Frank back with her to the U. S. at age 11 in April-May of 1893 (Frank turned 12 during the 2 month trip) after Ellen's 4 years at the Woman's Assoc. of the United Brethren mission in Rotifunk, Sierra Leone. (Ellen later returned to Sierra Leone in 1900 for a couple years in order to supervise the rebuilding of the mission.)
Frank was attending college and then medical school in Ohio.

Had Frank's parents died in Sierra Leone in the early 1890's, or ?
