Marjorie Jean Pickett Mullen was born to Ernest David Pickett and Sylvia Iola Mace. Her younger sister and brother were Helen Irene (Reed), and Rulon Dale. The family lived on a farm in the New Sweden/Riverdale area of Bonneville County on the southwest corner of Peterson Road and Faust Road. She attended elementary school at the Riverdale School and graduated from high school at Shelley High School in Shelley, Bingham County, Idaho in 1938.

Marjorie met Kenneth Lyle Mullen and dated for a couple of years. Kenneth joined the Army in 1940 and they were married on September 21, 1941 in her parent's house. Marjorie and Kenneth traveled to Kenneth's Army post at Fort Lewis, Washington, and eventually on to Fort Ord, California. World War II started and Kenneth went overseas to Dakar, French West Africa for the duration of the war. Marjorie had a son, David Lee, born while Kenneth was on a troop transport in the Atlantic Ocean. Kenneth returned after the war and they had another son, Carlan Kay. Marjorie and Kenneth built a house on Kenneth's parent's farm in 1947 in the Goshen, Bingham County, Idaho area. A last son, Dann E. (middle initial "E." only), was born to them. Marjorie and Kenneth continued to live in that home until her death. Marjorie loved playing bridge and pinochle, and was in several card clubs. Cause of death is believed to be a heart attack as no autopsy was performed.
