Mary Frances Heard was enumerated age 12 in the Perry County, Al 1850 Federal Census, yet her tombstone shows 1843 as the birth year. She married 20 Dec 1855 to Alvin Perkins Davis. Her tombstone states she died in 1925 but her oldest son John wrote a certified letter in 1922 to the state to stop her Civil War widow's pension stating her death date as 11 March 1922. Mary Frances was the daughter of Mary and Joseph M. Heard, The Heard family along with Alvin Davis and his bride Mary Frances migrated from AL to LA in 1859.They had a total of 8 children of which which 2 died and buried in the Old Heard Cemetery before they migrated to Louisiana.

Updated January of 2023: In the 1980's my father's first cousin published a Heard book and stated that Mary Frances' mother was Mary Edmonds daughter of John and Nancy Edmonds. Mary Frances's parents' married license shows the maiden name as Ed---ds. You can't read it. Other cousins in AL research this and state the maiden name was Edwards.
1. Judy Davis mapped out the property of Joseph Heard in Perry County and on it is the Edwards cemetery with a Revolutionary War patriot Edwards buried there.
2. I did my DNA a few years back and I am kin to Edwards but not Edmonds.
3. The Edmonds came to AL later that the Edwards.
4. An Edmonds researcher said that John and Nancy Edmonds daughter Mary married a Barton and died young leaving a couple of Barton children.
With this information, an educated reasoning would be the her mother's maiden name is Edwards.

Besides the children in relationship links:
1. Mary Lucinda Davis (Molly)
2. Charlie Davis
