Chris passed from this life after spending more than a year in a coma after being shot in the head on Feb. 9, 1997. Chris came from a racing family, his father Chuck Trickle was very much involved in racing and helping his son. His uncle, Dick Trickle is a current Winston Cup driver. In 1996 Chris competed in the Nascar Southwest Tour, recording one win and nine top 10 finishes in his blue #70 Chevy Lumina. When he was shot, he was considered well on his way to being a rising star on the Nascar circuit. Chris was on his way to play tennis with a friend when an unknown assailant took a shot at him, possibly during a traffic altercation, while driving his white convertible east on Blue Diamond Road. Chris was in and out of a coma for nearly thirteen months when he lost the battle for his life due to lung complications. He will always be remembered for his courage and determination.
