Alphonse Schneider Passed Away Last Saturday Night
The many friends in this community of Alphonse Schneider were saddened last Saturday night when they learned of his death which occurred at his home near Hampshire at 11:00 o'clock. Mr. Schneider had been ill for many months and all during this period was a cheerful and patient sufferer.
He was born in Alsace Loraine on August 8, 1868. He grew to manhood in the old country and came to this country in 1895. He first settled in Chicago where he was united in marriage to Miss Magdalena Herbert on June 26, 1902.
For a number of years he lived near Burlington, moving to a farm near Hampshire several months ago where he made his home until death called.
He is survived by his wife and ten children, Robert, Alphonse, Edward, Ray, Gerald, Genevieve, Evelyn and Willard, all at home. (Mrs. Veronica Jones of Burlington and Mrs. Ethel (Clinton)Jakes of Elgin) He also leaves his mother, Mrs. Celestine Schneider of Switzerland; two brothers, Armand Schneider of Chicago and Edward Schneider of Switzerland; a half-brother, Charles Roggie of France, and two grandchildren, Kathlene Jones of Burlington and Robert Jakes of Elgin.
Funeral services were held from the late home Tuesday morning at 9:30 o'clock and from the Hampshire Catholic Church with Rev. Fr. Heckinger in charge. Interment was in the Hampshire Catholic Cemetery.
