Funeral services for Ivy Hampton Bridges, 79, of Florien, LA, were Saturday, February 25, 2012 the Warren Meadows Funeral Home Chapel in Many, LA., Rev. Durhl Davis and Rev. Jack Perkins officiated. Burial followed in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Toro, LA.

Ivy Hampton Bridges was born in the Rattan Community near Toro, LA on January 28, 1933. He passed away on Wednesday, February 22, 2012 at Deridder Retirement and Rehabilitation in DeRidder,LA. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ovie and Beatrice Bridges; two brothers, Curtis Bridges and Oden Bridges and one sister, Fern Burleson Herrington.

Ivy attended the Pisgah School at Toro. He later attended the Florien School, after the family moved to Sabine Parish west of and near Hornbeck, LA. He joined the Air Force and retired with honorable service to his country. During his years of service he had tours of duty in many foreign countries. After his military service, he worked for the U.S. Postal Service for years.

He is survived by one sister of Anacoco, LA; two brothers along with a host of nieces, nephews and friends.
