Dudley, 83, Glenmore, died at 4:25 p.m., at the VanCrest Health Care Center.

He was a son to Martin Jonathan and Eva Ferne (Hurless) Schmid. On Jun 1, 1951, he married Jean Eddy, who survives.

Also surviving are two sons, Keith A. (Karen), Ohio City, and Kent J. (Jane), Van Wert; a daughter, Jane (Jim) Poling, Convoy; a sister, Marilyn (Max) Frye, Van Wert; five grandchildren, Katie (Jason) Schnipke, Cloverdale, Kylie (Shane) Mills, Harlan, IN, Bryce Poling, Convoy, Amanda (Cody) Lape and Lauren Schmid, both Van Wert; and four great-grandchildren, Jamison Poling, Brooklynn Schnipke, Aubree Mills, Carson Lape.

Deceased is a sister, Esther Schumm.

He was a 1947 graduate of Wren High School and a Korean War veteran of the U.S. Army. He was a lifetime farmer and retired from Continental Can Company – Sonoco in 1991 after 43 years of service. He was a member of Emmanuel Lutheran Church, Van Wert and the American Legion Post #207, Willshire.

Funeral services are at the Emmanuel Lutheran Church, with Rev. Philip Zielinski, officiating.
