Roy Eldridge Gilliam III, 24, of Jeffrey suddenly departed this life Wednesday, February 22, 2012 at Hewett.

Better known as "Little Roy" or "Cheesy" was a loving and devoted son, brother, nephew and a great friend, who will be greatly missed by family and friends.

He was a coal miner for Kanawha Eagle Mines. He was a graduate of Scott High School. Cheesy was an avid hunter and loved to play his guitars. He was someone who you met, that his courageous smile, would not let you forget. He loved his family, friends and the outdoors.

"Little Roy" was born on March 2, l987 in Fort Worth, Texas, to his father Roy E. Gilliam, Jr. He was preceded in death by his grandmother, who he called his mother, Janet "Patty" Gilliam" and his grandfather Roy E. Gilliam; and many special friends.

He is survived by his father Roy (Amy) Gilliam, Jr of Chapmanville, WV; two brothers, Johnny " john john nelson and Bobby McNeely two sisters, Alyssa Gilliam and Alexis Davis all of chapmanville two loving uncles and one aunt who he cared for deeply Gregory scotty Gilliam James "Roundman" Gilliam and Linda Gilliam two cousins Gregory" "little=""Little" scotty"="Scotty"" gilliam="Gilliam" ii="II" and="and" erica="Erica" "sissy"=""Sissy"" bias="Bias" and="and" several="several" other="other" cousins="cousins" who="who" will="will" miss="miss" him="him" dearly;="dearly;" three="three" great="great" aunts,="aunts," ruby="Ruby" asbury="Asbury" of="of" six="Six" mile,="Mile," betty="Betty" king="King" of="of" charleston,="Charleston," peggy="Peggy" adkins="Adkins" of="of" arizona;="Arizona;" one="one" great="great" uncle,="uncle," don="Don" (margaret)="(Margaret)" sexton="Sexton" of="of" charleston;="Charleston;" and="and" thousands of very close friends who will greatly miss him Cheesy touched many lives and would help anyone. now he is gone but will not be forgotten.
Services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, February 27at Handley Funeral Home in Danville with Edsel Aleshire and Earl Akers officiating. Burial will follow in Boone Memorial Park, Madison. Pallbearers will be family and friends. Honorary pallbearers will be Larry Conley, Timmy Akers, Leon Walker, Jason Smith, Robbie Ball, B.J. Norman, Eric Aleshire and John John Nelson, all very special close friends.

Visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
