She was born 11 weeks after her father, Samuel Bump, was killed in action at the Battle of Shiloh during the Civil War.

Her middle name is sometimes recorded as "Marion" or middle inital of "M". It's possible that her middle name was changed at some point to "Samuella" in tribute to her father.

In 1919, she was the Manager of the Century Club in San Francisco, which was a private woman's club.

The next year, she is listed as a Matron at the Mt Tamalpais Military Academy in San Rafael.

Mrs Jessie Warn, widow of Ed Warn, died Wednesday evening at her home in San Mateo, CA, after a week's illness of tubucular trouble. The family resided here for many years.

One daughter preceded her.
