James "Bay" Tarter, 74, New Hope Road, Nancy, died Wednesday, Feb. 19, at Humana Hospital Lake Cumberland following a lengthy illness.

He was born in Pulaski County on March 12, 1911, the son of the late Elwood and Lue Dixon Tarter. He was a retired farmer and member of New Hope Baptist Church.

Survivors include three brothers, Curtis and Lyle Tarter, both of Nancy, and Carthel Tarter, Bement, Ill.; and a sister, Mollie Blanton, Utica, Mich.

He is preceded in death by his parents; four brothers, Hilliard, Raymond, Rudolph, and Clifford Tarter; and four sisters, Ollie Tarter, Ada Neal, Flora Bray, and Lucille Tarter.

Services will be tomorrow at 2 p.m. at the chapel of Pulaski Funeral Home with the Rev. Hezekiah Davis officiating.

Burial will be in Piney Grove Cemetery No. 2.

Visitation will be after 6 p.m. today at the funeral home.
