Arthur was the middle child of Albert and Margaret Fountain Pett. The only record of Arthur's existence rests solely in the window in St. Paul's Episcopal Church—and perhaps in a yet to be found grave. No record of him appears in the parish register, nor anywhere else.

Eventually, Arthur and his family would follow the family to Michigan in 1879—and back again to Minnesota where many descendents of surviving children, Willard and Marion, still live.
