JOSEPHINE SMITH DIES
Funeral Services Sunday for Chester Resident
Mrs. Josephine Harriet Smith, 83, died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Hazel Smith, in Chester this morning following an illness of several years.
She was born in Campbell Hill in 1873. She was married in 1895 to George W. Smith, who died in 1940.
Mrs. Smith leaves sons Releigh, Virgil and J. S., all of Rockwood, and Lester of Gorham, daughters Mrs. Ida Viola Choate and Mrs. Edna Vanmeter, both of Rockwood, Miss Grace and Miss Hazel, both of Chester, and Mrs. Lois Gross of Kankakee, and 30 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren. One daughter preceded her in death.
Mrs. Smith was a member of the First Baptist Church of Chester.
Friends may call at the Schroeler Funeral Home in Chester until 11:30 a.m. Sunday, when the body will be removed to the First Baptist Church for services at 2 p.m. The Rev. Floyd Jent will officiate. Burial will be in the Bartlett Cemetery near Ava.
