Powderly - An apparent head-on collision October 25 resulted in the deaths here of two men, according to Department of Public Safety Officers.
The accident occurred when a 1976 Oldsmobile driven by Walter Brenden Rogers, Jr., 26 of Sanger, California, collided with a 1975 Ford pickup truck driven by Rickey Don Webster, 40, of Hugo, Oklahoma about 5:25 a.m. Sunday, DPS officials said Webster's vehicle was headed north in the southbound lane of U. S. Highway 271 about 7 1/2 miles north of Pris when the collision took place. Rogers and Webster were pronounced dead at the scene at 5:50 a.m. by Justice of the Peace David Merritt. According to officials, the pickup truck caught fire during the accident.
Rogers was born in Hanford, California on May 28, 1961, a son of Walter B. Rogers, Sr. and Velma Zenson Rogers.
The body will be sent to Cooley Funeral Home in Fresno, California for funeral services and burial.
Surviving are his parents; two brothers, William Henry Rogers and Tony Rogers; two sisters, Nathalia Henry of Fresno and Ida Schexnayder of Fresno; his grandparents, William and Margaret Simpson and William Rogers of Fresno, formerly of Paris.
