B. C. Portner, 84 died Monday afternoon at his residence, 115 6th st., SW, folling an illness of six months. He was born in Warendoaf, Germany, and came to this country, settling in Massillon, when about 25 years old. He was employed for a number of years at the old Russell and company, and has been retired since the closing of the shop.
He is surived by a daughter, Miss Mae F. Portner, at home: two sons, R. C. Portner, of St. Paul, Minn., and Carl Portner, of Lakewood; three sisters, Mrs. Sophia Moser, of Los Angeles, Cal, Mrs. Clara Permar, and Miss Gertrude Portner, of Cleveland; and two grandchildren.
The funeral will be helt Thursday at 9 a.m. at St. Mary's church and interment will be made in the mausoleum at Calvary Cemetery. The body will be taken late this afternoon to his residence from the Heitger's funeral home.
