I.T. Kirkland

VEGA – I.T. "Dick" Kirkland, 85, died Thursday, September 4, 1997.

Services were held at 2 p.m. Saturday in the First Baptist Church with the Rev. James Peach, pastor, officiating. Burial was in Memorial Park Cemetery by Vega Funeral Home.

Mr. Kirkland was born in Gatesville and had been a resident of Vega since 1956. He served for 3½ years in the Army Air Corps during World War II.

He married Odessa L. Harvey in 1941 at Las Vegas.

Mr. Kirkland was a farmer for many years. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Vega.

Survivors include his wife; four sons, Richard Kirkland of Austin, Lester Kirkland and Perry Kirkland, both of Vega, and Larry Joe Kirkland of Levelland; a daughter, Judy Nichols of Amarillo; a sister, Redena Herring of Houston; a brother, Leo Kirkland of Waco; 13 grandchildren; and 4 great-grandchildren.

The family requests memorials be to the First Baptist Church scholarship fund, Vega, Texas 79092; or Memorial Park Cemetery, P.O. Box 496, Vega, Texas 79092.
