Funeral services for Opal Roper Martin, 88, of Frankston were held at 3 p.m. Wednesday, March 31, in the chapel of Thompson Funeral Home in Frankston with the Rev. George Folmar officiating.

Burial was in Frankston City Cemetery under the direction of Thompson Funeral Home.

Mrs. Martin, died Monday, March 29.

She was born July 12, 1915 in Tuskahoma,Pushmatah, Okla., daughter of Ollie Chandler and C.M. Payne Sr. Mrs. Martin made her home in East Texas in 1961 when she went into the restaurant business in Frankston. She owned and operated her family restaurant, Roper's Diner, later known as Lake Trail Restaurant, for 30 years.

She was preceded in death by a daughter, Darlene Howard; a son, Charles Allen Howard; two grandsons, Sam Howard Gaddis and James Edwin Griffin Mays; two sisters, Euphie Payne Cates and Ruth Payne Lynch; four brothers, C.M. Payne Jr., Arnis Wade Payne, Eugene Floyd Payne, O.D Thomas Payne; her parents; and husbands, Noble Howard and J.B. Roper.

Survivors include her husband, Lloyd Martin; her children, Bob and Patsy Howard Argo of Roanoke, Bob and Judith Howard Bell of Plano, Don (Adam) and Deb Howard of Palestine, and Albert and Charolett Howard Gaddis of Frankston; two brothers, Richard Payne of Kemp and Archie Payne of Wills Point; 18 grandchildren; 41 great-grandchildren, 10 great-great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews; and a host of friends, customers and employees.
