Delores B. York, 83, of Damariscotta, passed away on the morning of Dec. 26 at the Cove's Edge Nursing Home in Damariscotta.

Born in Seboeis on Feb. 21, 1927, she was the daughter of Rufus and Dora (Hodgkins) Bunker.

Delores grew up and attended schools in northern Maine before moving to Nobleboro and marrying Joseph York. Together they raised their family, and she worked for many years as a cook at the Nobleboro Central School.

She was a great cook and family and friends alike loved her food. She was an avid knitter and many family members still have blankets that were knit by her. Family was very important to her and she loved spending time with them.

She was predeceased by her husband, Joseph York; daughter, Tena M. York; and stepson, Donald York.

She is survived by her brothers and sisters, Eldon Bunker and wife Donna Bunker of California, Hillburn Bunker and wife Lenora Bunker of Whitefield, Christine Hyson of Jefferson, Frances Simmons of Richmond, Ruth Creamer of Bath and Bertha Turner of Dover; grandchildren, Kacie Leeman and husband Wayne Leeman of Nobleboro, Kira McDaniel and husband Robert McDaniel of Newcastle, Beth Barter and husband Sam Barter of Boothbay and Darren York and wife Michelle York of Nobleboro; stepson, Clifton York of Round Pond; as well as many great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews.

Visiting hours 4-6 p.m., Sun., Jan. 2 at the Strong-Hancock Funeral Home, 612 Main St., Damariscotta. Funeral 1 p.m., Mon., Jan. 3 also at the funeral home. She will be laid to rest at the Dunbar Cemetery in the spring.
