Martin, Wanda Ilene Murray, 86, passed away peacefully Sunday, February 26, 2012, at Sandpiper Healthcare Center in Wichita.

She was born in Carney, Oklahoma on August 3, 1925, to John and Lula Hall Murray. She married Robert Martin on May 2, 1942, in Perkins, Oklahoma. They lived in Oklahoma, Georgia, Kentucky, Tennessee and Louisiana during the 1940's. Robert served his country during World War II and Korea. In the early 1950's they moved to Kansas, locating first in Wichita and then to Augusta. Long time residents of Augusta and both employees of the Augusta School District. She was a faithful member of the First Southern Baptist Church of Augusta.

Wanda was preceded in death by her parents; spouse; four brothers Robert and L.J. Murray and two infant brothers; and a sister Bonna Connor.

Survivors include her sister Donna (R.L.) Spurgeon of Wichita; brothers Nolan (Jeanie) Murray of Tulsa, Oklahoma, Reece (Geniva) Murray of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma; nephews Larry (Debra) Spurgeon, Allen (Dana) Spurgeon, Ron (Stacey) Spurgeon, niece Bev (Chris) Shafer all of Wichita, nephew Ken (Amy) Spurgeon of Towanda; special friends Sam and Kathy Fouts of Augusta and several additional nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held Wednesday, February 29, 2012, from 10-11:00 a.m., with the funeral service following at 11:00 a.m. both in the Dunsford Funeral Home Chapel. Interment in Elmwood Cemetery in Augusta will follow.

A memorial has been established with the First Southern Baptist Church, 2206 Ohio, Augusta, Kansas 67010, or in care of the funeral home.
