Lillian Rose (Pokorny) Smith

Nov 5, 1926 - Jan 26, 2004. Lillian was a loved wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, aunt, niece, and friend to all. Lillian Rose Pokorny was born to Czech immigrants, Frank and Agnes (Rajskup) Pokorny and raised in Clovis where she remained for most of her life Lilly or Lil, was the fifth born of ten siblings, Pauline, Frank, Mary, James, Robert, Fran and Ted. Lillian attended Clovis High School and graduated in 1943. Her dream in life was to be a mother and have a family of her own. At age 30, she married James Patrick Smith and had two daughters, JoAnna Lynn at age 37, and Susan Annette at age 41. Being an older mother posed its challenges (not many women did this in her day!) but she felt children were a blessing, a gift at any age, which is how she treated her daughters and grandsons. A wonderful provider, she worked hard all her life. She was a devoted and loving wife, mother and grandmother. Lillian was beautiful and modest, warm and sincere, strong and devoted, accepting and loved by all. She touched everyone she met with her warmth, her wonderful quick wit, and her never-ending generosity. Mom, yours was the beauty that can never die and you will live forever in the many cherished memories you created and stored safe in our hearts. You are forever loved, deeply missed, and never forgotten. There is no pain or sorrow in heaven for you are truly in a better place. Rest in peace beautiful one. Lillian Rose Smith left us on Monday, Janurary 26, 2004, at the age of 77. Lillian is survived by her husband; two daughters; and two grandsons. Lillian modestly requested to not have a formal Memorial. Any correspondence may be sent to Susan Smith, 14692 Devonshire Ave., Tustin, CA 92780.
