The Malvern Leader, July 8, 1948:
"Julia Acord Achenbach was born June 27, 1873 near Sidney where she grew to womanhood. At an early age she was married to Frank Adamson. To this union two children were born: Melvin of Thurman and Mrs. Ella Norman of Pacific Junction.
On Nov. 23, 1906, she was united in marriage to Louis Achenbach of Strahan. To this union three children were born: Lewis of Union, Neb.; Iva Marie, who preceded her in death, and Raymond of Bartlett.
The day preceding her death she celebrated her 75th birthday with her family. Early the following morning she passed away in her sleep. For the past several years she had been an invalid and for the past year had made her home with her daughter, Mrs. Ella Norman of Pacific Junction.
Funeral services were conducted by the Rev. C. H. Boos at the Methodist Church in Hastings on June 30, with burial in the Hastings Cemetery. “Death Is Only a Dream” and “Shall We Meet” were sung by Mrs. Steve Haines and Mrs. Fred Lookabill, accompanied by Mrs. Benj. Haroff.
The following members of her family were casket bearers: Frankie Norman, Lawrence LaFollette, Everett Thomas, Alva Achenbach, Riggie Pendraft and Orville Krecklow.
Her survivors are her husband, Louis Achenbach, four children and several grandchildren."
