Pick-pocketed at Canal Dover county fair. Had been failing physically and mentally for months, but after being robbed, worried greatly about loss and did not recover from shock. Died in the evening on the next day.

Buried in East Fair street cemetery. [Fair Ave Cemetery]. Rev. F. W. Leich of the German Reformed church officiated.
