A victim of the worst arson-murder in the history of the City of Glendale, California. In the early morning hours of Tuesday, February 6, 1996, Avanesian's father set fire to the family's one-bedroom apartment, killing the mother and their six children, all Iranian refugees. The services were held at Hollywood Hills' Hall of Liberty, with an attendance estimated at over 1,200 people. The funeral was the largest multiple Forest Lawn service ever performed. The mother rests surrounded by her children: daughters Roubina, 17, Rita, 16, and Ranika, 9, on one side, and sons Rodrik, 8, Romik, 6, and Roland, 4, on the other.
