Kuter started his career as an art director with Famous Players-Lasky in 1920. He also worked with MGM, Universal, Fox Films and RKO Pictures (where he designed the RKO symbol). In 1931 he joined Warner Bros and remained there until retiring in 1965. Kuter was a former president of the Soceity of Motion & TV Art Directors, of which he was a founder. A few of his film credits are "Flamingo Road," "Dark at the Top of the Stairs" and "P.T. 109."
