Born 5 Jul 1923, daughter of Karl and Jeannette Trustdorf. (birth record later corrected due to numerous name spelling errors on original including former family name spelling of Trostdorf).

Baptized 17 Apr 1927 in Methodist Episcopal Church in New Philadelphia, Tuscarawas, Ohio.

Brown eyes, thick red hair. When she was in elementary school with Charles in New Philadelphia, he would sit behind her and pull her hair.

High School Diploma- Brentwood High School In Brentwood, Allegheny, Pennsylvania.

B.A. Journalism - 24 Jun 1945 - Ohio Wesleyan University, Delaware, Ohio.

Nickname in college: Torchy due to her red hair.

M.S. Public Health - 31 Aug 1946 - University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill, North Carolina.

Married Charles Theodore Egli III on 20 Jun 1948 in New Philadelphia, Tuscarawas, Ohio by Rev TW Hoernemann. Witnesses: best man William N. Killian (Charles' Harvard roommate) and matron of honor Jacquelyn "Staats" Cobbledick (Mary's Ohio Weslyan University roommate).

Worked as a Public Health Educator. Worked until age 70. During times when she was unable to work full-time due to family requirements, she was a substitute English teacher in local public schools.

Avid reader. Loved mystery novels. One could usually find her lying down on the couch or bed reading.

Became an outstanding cook as years progressed. Participated in gourmet cooking clubs and donated cakes to church events. Charles happily ate everything! ... especially her great desserts (ie., German Chocolate Cake, bread and rice puddings, oatmeal cookies, fruit bars, fudge, pecan pie).

Death: Saturday, 18 Oct 2008 in Plum Borough, Allegheny, Pennsylvania at daughter's home. (Pittsburgh) Her two children held her hand as she took her last breaths and granddaughter read the 23rd Psalms. The breast cancer she had kept at bay for over 27 years finally overwhelmed her. But as she would say, she had a good run for her money.

Cause of death: breast cancer (originally diagnosed in her 50's).

Cremated. Charles' and her ashes mixed and scattered in Pinehurst by children.

* By the way, the name of the milkman in Webster Groves was Bud Keyes.
