Mr. Arnold Young Sr.
Mr. Arnold Spencer Young Sr., 69, of 19422 Porterstown Road, Keedysville, died Saturday, June 5, at his home.
He was the husband of Vivian Lorraine Moser Young, whom he married Aug. 4, 1951.
Born Jan. 14, 1930, in Battle Creek, Neb., he was a son of the late James Cicero and Effie Rebecca Spencer Young.
Mr. Young had been employed as a carpenter with several contractors in the Hagerstown area, retiring in 1975.
He had joined the U.S. Army but was discharged for medical reasons after completing basic training.
Mr. Young was a member of Trinity Church of God, Brunswick, where he was an usher.
He was a member of the American Association of Retired Persons.
Surviving in addition to his wife are one daughter, Cindy L. Divel of Cleveland, Tenn.; one son, the Rev. Arnold S. Young Sr. of Keedysville; two sisters, Dolores Flook of Middletown, and Bonita Shank of Boonsboro; two brothers, Dean Young of Boonsboro, and Raymond Young of Keedysville; three grandsons; two great-grandsons; and a number of nieces and nephews.
Mr. Young was preceded in death by two sisters, Emma E. Young and Virginia Bibb; and two brothers, Willie Lee and James Young.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Monday, June 7, at Bast Funeral Home, 7606 Old National Pike, Boonsboro, where funeral services will begin at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, June 8. The Rev. Gary Getridge will officiate.
Interment will be in Boonsboro Cemetery.
