Billy Jack Allen, 85 of Waxahachie, passed away in Ennis on Wednesday, February 29, 2012. He was born to the late Vester and Buelah Eckeberger Allen-Harris on August 12, 1926 in Waxahachie. Bill was a hairdresser for 25 years at the Glamour Salon. He attended many baseball games and will be remembered by many as the man with the voice in the stands leading the players to victory. He liked to collect antiques and guns. He enjoyed attending gun shows. He loved spending time with his family and country western dancing at the Senior Citizen Center with his wife, Marjorie. He will be greatly missed by his family.
He is survived by his loving wife of 68 yrs, Marjorie Allen of Waxahachie; his children, Brenda Ford and her husband, Eddie, Jackie Allen and his wife, Becky, Sharon Byrd and her husband, James, and Gary Allen, all of Waxahachie; his sisters, Hazel Mitchell and Bobbie Griffin, both of Waxahachie; his brothers, Charles Harris and his wife, Marilyn and Talmadge Harris, both of Waxahachie; his brother-in-law, W. H. Rippey of Waxahachie; his sister-in-law, Glenda Almand of Waxahachie; he is also survived by 9 grandchildren, Randall Ford and his wife, Sara, Angee Hallmark and her husband, Adam, Darin Ford and his wife, Leigh, Meleah Puckett and her husband, Chad, Clark Allen and his wife, Helen, Erick Thompson, Hayley Buchanan and her husband, Jeff, Justin Byrd and his wife, Shellye and Erin Lynne Allen; also by 16 great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. Pallbearers: Randall Ford, Erick Thompson, Darin Ford, Justin Byrd, Adam Hallmark, Jeff Buchanan and Chad Puckett.
Honorary Pallbearer: Chief Petty Officer, Clark A. Allen, U.S. Navy, San Diego, California. He was preceded in death by his mother and father; and also by his brother, Aaron Allen. Services to celebrate his life are scheduled for 10:00 a.m. Saturday, March 3, 2012 at the Pat Boze Memorial Chapel of Wayne Boze Funeral Home with Bro. Chris Maddox officiating. Interment will follow at the Sardis Cemetery. Visitation for family and friends will be held from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Friday, March 2, 2012 at Wayne Boze Funeral Home. The family would like to extend a very special thank you to the Ennis Care Center and to Family First Hospice for all of the love and care that everyone gave to Mr. Allen.
