Irene worked for the Hercules Clothing Company for 10 years and enjoyed working in the gift shop at the Columbus Zoo for 22 years. She was a member of the Jerome United Methodist Church for over 80 years and a member of the Starlight Rebekah Lodge #856 of Dublin.
A gravelly voiced lady who loved the Lord, family was very important to her and she became the main caregiver for her cantankerous elderly father, Lew Wollam, before his death in 1968. A very caring, dear lady, she was preceded in death by her husband, George J. Lowe, of cancer in 1954. Along with her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her brother, Frank L. Wollam and a sister, Alice Wollam Meade.
She is survived by her brother, Ray Wollam of Delaware, Ohio; and her sister, Oma Wollam Karrer in Dublin; plus many nieces and nephews.
Funeral in Ferguson Funeral Home in Plain City at 2 p.m. on Friday with burial in Forest Grove Cemetery.
