For 21 years, Mr. Baer had operated Baer's Service Station, at the junction of U.S. 18 and 53 in Grove Township, west of Brookston. Since coming to Lafayette he had worked at Rapp's and at Keller's Shoe Store, where he was employed at the time of his death. He was a member and head usher of Congress Street Methodist Church. He was also a member of Brookston Lodge 66, F&AM, and the Grand Chapter of the Order of Eastern Star.
Surviving with his widow are a daughter, Mrs. Robert L. Smith of Rt. 1, Lafayette; a son, Norman F. Baer of Lafayette; a brother, Howard Baer of Lafayette; a sister, Mrs. Minnie Eller of Brookston; and eight grandchildren.
