Douglas Lee King, 55, of 1804 Sanford Drive, Elizabeth City, died September 10 at his home. A native of Suffolk, Va., he was the son of the late Mae Goodwin King and William Henry King. He was a retired machinist, with Norfolk Naval Shipyard, a member of First Christian Church, and a U. S. Army veteran.
In addition to his wife, Shirley Langdale (formerly of Edenton) other survivors include: one son - Christopher Lee King of Elizabeth City; two sisters - Doris Monroe of Elizabeth City and Helen Butt of Chesapeake, Va.; three brothers - Bobby King of Manassas, Va., and Lloyd King and Clinton King, both of Elizabeth City.
A funeral service for Mr. King was conducted at 3:30 p.m. on Friday, September 12 in Twiford's Memorial Chapel, Elizabeth City, with Rev. Bill Roberts officiating. Burial followed in West Lawn Memorial Park Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to the First Christian Church Permanent Endowment Fund.
Twiford's Funeral Home of Elizabeth City was in charge of arrangements.
