BAT WELCH
Bat Welch, a former resident of this county died last week at the home of his sister, Mrs. Cain, in Menominee, Mich. He was born and reared in Liberty and was well and favorably known in the southern part of the county. He lived at St. Nazianz several years but left there about ten years ago when his health failed.

The following notice of his death is taken from a Menominee paper:
“Bartholomew Welch passed away last evening at 5 o’clock at the home of his sister, Mrs. M. H. Cain on Marinette avenue, with whom he has made his home for the past ten years. A complication of diseases was the cause of his death. Mr. Welch was born in Wisconsin July 4, 1867.

He is survived by four sisters—Mrs. M. H. Cain, Mrs. John Roddy, of Escanaba, Mrs. B. Hanley of Marinette, and Mrs. J. Martin of Green Bay.

“The funeral was held Thursday morning at nine o’clock from St. John’s church, the Rev. Father Cleary officiating. Burial took place at Riverside.

The bearers of the casket to the last resting place were Thomas Conners, Michael Sullivan, Angus McGillis, Dan Burns, A.P. English and F. A. Wacowiak.”
