Mr. Barger was a resident of Springfield most of his life, retiring in July 1989 from CILCO, where he was a storesman for over 38 years. He was a member of IBEW Local 51, a former assistant scoutmaster and a Marine Corps veteran.
Surviving are his wife, Wilma M.; three daughters, Vickie Skelton of Broadwell, Carolyn Grobelnik of Springfield, and Mrs. Kenneth (Marilyn) Boehs of Jacksonville; three sons, Russell and Jack Barger, both of Springfield, and Michael Barger of Pekin; 17 grandchildren; two sisters, Elizabeth Thoele of Springfield and Mrs. Henry (Cora) Krumbach of Tacoma, Wash.; an aunt; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Services at Staab Funeral Home, the Rev. Jack Cramer-Heuerman officiating. Burial in Oak Ridge Cemetery.
