Agnes Dorthea "Susie" Grose, 85, passed away March 10, 2004, in Las Vegas, from terminal cancer. She was born in Hartley, Iowa, Nov. 17, 1918 to Detlef Staack and Frederika Schlegel Staack and grew up in Omaha, Neb. with two sisters and one brother. She excelled in school, skipping five grades. She enjoyed gymnastics and ice skating. She met and married Morris Clinton Grose June 3, 1939, in Estes Park, Colo. while they were both working in Cheyenne, Wyo. and they moved to Southern California, shortly thereafter, where they raised two children. Susie was an excellent cook and homemaker, sewing for the home and family and exercised many artistic talents. In the middle 1950's, Susie and Morris bought a picture framing business in New Port Beach, Calif., which they operated for over 25 years, where they met the needs of a very interesting and prestigious clientele. It proved to be a very rewarding career that gave them much pleasure. She lost her husband of 59 years in 1998, while living in Santa Maria, Calif. Susie was a very intelligent, self educated woman.
