CANTON -- Willis E. Taggart, 87, of 620 N. Avenue E died at 7:53 a.m. Friday, Aug. 20, 1993, at Graham Hospital Extended Care Unit.

Born Aug. 9, 1906, in Paoli, Ind., to Alvin and Zela Rigney Taggart, he married Cleola Ross. She died in September 1944. He married Alberta M. Wright on June 23, 1945, in Rushville. She survives.

Also surviving are one son, Willis J. of Canton; six grandchildren; and seven great- grandchildren. He was preceded in death by one son, Max Taggart, two brothers and three sisters.

He worked for Canton Township for 12 years. He then was an automotive electrician at Truax-Traer Mine for 32 years, retiring in 1967. He was a past president of Local 7110 United Mine Workers Association. He was a member of the Salvation Army, Loyal Order of Moose Lodge 7 and the Fulton County Senior Citizens. He served on the Fulton County Board of Supervisors for four terms.

Services will be at 11:30 a.m. Monday at Oaks-Hines Funeral Home. Maj. Ken Reed will officiate. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m.

Sunday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery.
