Lila, (Louise) 99, was born to Mary and Chancey Marshall and died February 27, 2017.

She grew up in Holt, married Harry Allen the day after her 18th birthday and became a farmer's wife. She loved sewing, quilting, cooking, playing cards, singing, dancing, and any gathering of family and friends.

They retired from farming in 1965 to travel the USA then resettled in Mason in 1983.

She was preceded in death by her parents; son, Larry (1939); siblings, Mable Baum, Roy & Carlton Watters, Ellis Marshall & Ellen Watts; great-granddaughter, Rachel Louise Way; and husband for 52 years and 'Love of Her Life', Harry Allen in 1986.

She is survived by her children, Jane Somerville of Mason, Janet Jordan of Dimondale, Gene (Linda) of Suttons Bay, MI, and Jo of Van Cleve, MS, 6 grandchildren, 9 great-grand children, 3 great-great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

A "Celebration of Life" was held Friday, March 3, 2017 at Gorsline Runciman Funeral Homes Ball Dunn Chapel, Mason, MI. Interment followed at Glendale Cemetery, Okemos.

Pallbearers were: Steve Way, Derek Allen, Tim Somerville, Jakob Somerville, Dale Somerville, Gene Allen, Jo Allen. Honorary: Scott Somerville, Hal Watts, Jon Watts.

Gorsline Runciman Funeral Home, Mason, MI.

Louise (her preferred name) married Harry Martin Allen. Since their retirement in 1968 they have traveled by car through every state in the continental U.S., every providence in Canada, Nova Scotia, and Alaska. They drove around Lake Superior twice, in a dune buggy.

Harry was a farmer and Louise worked right along beside him At one time they owned 5 farms, and milked 80 head of cattle.

Harry was very much against unions and worked hard, earning a living by the sweat of his own hands.

They owned land at Lake Isabella for 2 years, and also owned a bar in Houghton Lake for 2 years. (They were the bar tenders). They also both drove school buses. The above information came from a "cousin", Louise, a very lovely lady. THANK YOU, LOUISE. In her words..."They had a wonderful life".

(We loved your car, but it finally died! Still waiting for the medicinal worth of danderlions!) (The Smiths)

God knew you were getting tired
and a cure was not to be.
He placed His arms around you
and whispered, "Come to Me."
A golden heart stopped beating,
hard working hands are now at rest.
Our consolation is in knowing that
God only takes the best.
