He was a life long resident of Antigonish, a caring and loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather.
He retired from St. Martha's Hospital Maintenance Department after 43 years of service. He was a devoted member of St. Ninian's Cathedral and served as a member of its Board for a time. He also served as a volunteer for many years with the Diabetic Society.
He was an avid hunter and fisherman, loved to play his guitar and spent some time playing with the Happy Go Lucky Band. He also enjoyed photography and an occasional hand of cards. He was loved and respected by all who had the pleasure of knowing him.
He is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Rita (Skinner), three sons: William, Antigonish; Kevin, Pugwash; and Francis, London, ON.; four grandchildren: Reschael and Thomas, both of Edmonton, AB; Derek, Musquodobit; and Stephanie, London, ON.; brother Ernie, Toronto, ON.; sisters Pearl and Georgina, both of Antigonish; and, Rachel, Toronto; sisters-in-law Phyllis Skinner and Pat Skinner both of Antigonish.
He is predeceased by parents Cutler and Margaret Ash; brothers Joe and Tom Skinner and sister Hattie Skinner.
Visitation will be in C.L. Curry Funeral Home, 135 College St., Antigonish, on Wednesday 7-9pm and Thursday 2-4 and 7-9pm. Mass of Christian burial will be held Friday at 10:00am at St. Ninian's Cathdral, Rev. Lazarus Guira presiding.
