Asenath Colt Vaill, dau. of Rev. William Fowler Vaill and Asenath Selden, b. Jan. 5, 1822 at Union Mission (1820-1835) to the Osage Indians in then Osage Indian Territory, subsequent to 1828 the Cherokee Indian Territory southeast of present-day Chouteau, Mayes County, Oklahoma. At the time of her birth Union Mission was located in the extended western portion of the Arkansas Territory, with Asenath stating in all censuses in which appears as born in Arkansas.

Asenath was a paternal descendant of William Bradford of the 1620 Mayflower voyage and the celebrated Gov. of the Plymouth Colony.

The Lexington Intelligencer, February 01, 1908Lexington, Mo.Died in Rich HillA message announcing the death in Rich Hill Tuesday evening of Mrs. A.C. Barrows, mother of Mrs. Florence Alford of this city, was received here Wednesday night. Mrs. Barrows was 87 years of age and is survived by one son and five daughters. She was said to be one of the oldest settlers in Bates county. The funeral was held from the family home in Rich Hill Thursday afternoon.
