Miss Lulu Weatherwax Dies In San Frqncisco

"The death of Miss Lulu Weatherwax, a resident of Placerville for more than 70 years and well known locally as a ceramist and painter, has been announced by her cousin, Myrtle G. Cromwell.

Death came February 1st to Miss Weatherwax in San Francisco where she had been living the last 5 years.

She was the daughter of Charles H. Weatherwax who served as Placerville City Clerk and who at one time was secretary of El Dorado County Miners Association, He was one of California's early day miners and was identified with various civil organizations.

The Weatherwax home which still stands at the corner of Bedford and Coloma Streets was sold when Miss Weatherwax moved to San Francisco. Her studio was a familuar place to many art lovers in Placerville.

Private funeral services were held in Cypress Lawn Cemetery on February 3rd. Her ashes are to be placed in the family plot in Placerville."
