Grandpa Butts Died Sunday, July 24th At Lee Bilberry Home. Thomas J. Butts died Sunday morning, July 24th at 3:50 o´clock, at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Lee Bilberry, his remains being interred in Spur cemetery.

Grandpa Butts died of old age. He was eighty six years of age, and was among the early settlers of this Western country. He was married December 10th, 1865, to Miss Jane Thomas, and to the union ten children were born, seven of whom are still living., five girls and two boys, including Homer Butts of Winters, Roy Butts of Wichita Falls, Mrs. L.W. Bilberry of Spur, Mrs. W.J. Wilson of Girard. Mrs. Emma Ake of Brady, Mrs. Horace Estes of Witchita Falls, and Mrs. Wood Shepherd of AZ.

Grandpa and Grandma Butts lived together sixty two years, coming to this country in 1908. Grandma who survives, is now seventy five years of age. The past five or six years they have been living with their children. Grandpa Butts was a Christian gentleman, and when death called was fully prepared to answer the summons.
