Adrian J. "Bud" Richard, 82, passed away after a battle with cancer on Monday, March 11, in his home.
Bud was born on July 22, 1919, to Clarence and Vema (Smith) Richard. He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Roger Richard; and by two sisters, Germaine Goff and Alice McAndrews.
Bud graduated from Madison Township High School. He then married Rogene on Nov. 25, 1950 in Stevenson, Mich. Bud was a farmer and also sold Crow's Seed Corn for 30 years.
Bud is survived by his wife, Rogene; daughters, Marilyn Richard of South Bend, Beth (Charles) Tapley of Ft. Wayne, Ind., Rebecca Richard-Schupert of Lawrence, Kan., and Karen Richard of South Bend; his sons, Mark (Nancy) Richard of St. Charles, Mo., Tim (Kay) Richard of Vandalia, Mich., Terry (Pat) Richard of Bremen, Ind., and Tom (Kristi) Richard of South Bend; his sisters. Rose Allsop of North Liberty, Ind., Virginia Warner of South Bend, Jane Heim of Oceanside, Calif., Clara White and Marcella Richard of Vero Beach, Fla., Cecelia Pfledderer of South Bend and Annette Peterson of Anamosa, Iowa; his brothers, Albert Richard of South Bend and Ralph Richard of Tucson, Ariz. He also has 13 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Bud will be remembered as someone who loved to travel, and was a member of the Holy Name Society of Sacred Heart Church.
Visitation for Bud will be from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. today in the Guisinger Colonial Chapel Funeral Home, 3718 S. Michigan Street. A Rosary service will be at 3:30 p.m. today in the funeral home.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. on Thursday in Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church, 63568 U.S. 31, Lakeville, Ind.
Memorials may be made to the St. Joseph County Cancer Society and to the American
Diabetes Association.
