Jesse Harvey McBrayer was one of three sons (Bailey and William) of Rev. James M. McBrayer of Georgia who enlisted in the Confederate States of America, army of Tennessee.... 52nd Regiment, Boyd's Guards, Company D, ,(from Lumpkin County, Georgia), Confederate States Army...

and served as a private infantryman, one of the three brothers (Bailey) was killed in action at the battle of Bakers Creek, Mississippi (sometimes known as the Battle of Champion Hill). After the war Jesse H. married and moved to Texas and raised cotton at Lorena, Texas. He was married 3 times,Viva Woolsey, Nancy Ann Thompson (bore him 8 children),and Mary Elizabeth Gent who bore 4 more children. A simple farmer, who never cut his beard after the war of rebellion.
