George E. Hanf, 68, of Brodheadsville, died Thursday, June 10, at Pocono Medical Center, East Stroudsburg.

He was the husband of Alice (Boyne) Hanf. They had been married 39 years.

Born in Jersey City, N.J., he was the son of the late George W. and Matilda (Olsen) Hanf.

He was employed as an Accountant for Ingersoll-Rand in New York City for over 20 years. Later he worked as an accountant in the West End and Bangor area.

He was a member of Our Lady Queen of Peace Catholic Church in Gilbert. He was a member of the 3rd Knights of Columbus Msgr. Connell McHugh Council #7141 of Brodheadsville. where he was a Past Grand Knight and he was also the financial secretary for many years, and a 4th Knights of Columbus Father Butler Assembly #980 of Stroudsburg and served as the financial secretary.

He was a United States Air Force Veteran having served during the Korean War. He received the National Defense Service Medal and the Good Conduct Medal. He was a former member of the American Legion in Jersey City, N.J, and a current member of the American Legion Post #927 in Gilbert. For many years, he has been an active member of the Boy Scouts of America.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by two daughters, Rosemarie, wife of Harold Gooch of Bethlehem and Maureen, wife of Andrew Stevens of Northampton; a sister, Joanne O'Leary of Red Bank, N.J.; and two grandchildren, Cory and Erin Stevens of Northampton.

Funeral services will begin 8:30 a.m. Saturday, June 12, at the Donald N. Gower Funeral Home, Inc., Route 209, Gilbert, followed by a 9 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial at Our Lady Queen of Peace Catholic Church in Gilbert with the Rev. Father William P. McCawley celebrant. Interment will be in the Buena Vista Cemetery, Brodheadsville.

Viewing will be held 7 to 9 p.m., Friday, June 11, at the funeral home with the Knights of Columbus services and Vigil Prayers by Father Donald Gollinge.
