John Henry Gauslin served twice in the U.S. Army during the Civil War. He was a private in the Company A, 14th Wisconsin Infantry from October 28, 1861 until his discharge due to injury on October 18, 1962. He reenlisted on June 7, 1864 and served as a corporal in the Company G, 39th Wisconsin Infantry until he was mustered out on September 22, 1864.
