Mary Eads was born in Indiana March 6, 1833 and would have been 91 years old if she had lived until the sixth day of next month. When two years of age, she came to Missouri with her parents, settling in Daviess County. On March 17, 1859, she was married to Matthew Curtis.
To this union five children were born, two, Mrs. Exceen and Mrs. Jarrell, surviving. The deceased children were William Matterson Curtis, Jr., Mrs. Pauline Edsall, and Mrs. William Boller. Three grandchildren, Mrs. Clifford Irvin of Chillicothe and Frank Jarrell and W. J. Edsall, both of Kansas City, survive.
When 16 years of age, she united with the Christian church. For years she assisted her husband, who is now 87 years old, in conducting a grocery store near the Chillicothe Business College and on West Calhoun Street. For the past seven years, however, they have been making their home with their daughters." The Chillicothe Constitution Tribune, February 6, 1924
